Chili Potato Recipe: Crispy and Flavorful
Here’s a recipe for chili potato, a delicious Indian appetizer or side dish featuring crispy potatoes coated in a sweet, tangy, and spicy sauce:
Chili Potato Recipe Ingredients:
For the Potatoes:
- 2-3 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into wedges
- 1/4 cup corn flour (cornstarch)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Chili Sauce:
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1-2 green chilies, chopped (adjust for spice level)
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey or sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- Salt to taste
- Chopped spring onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Potatoes: Boil the potatoes in water (around 5-7 minutes). Drain and pat them dry. In a bowl, toss the potatoes with corn flour, red chili powder, and salt.
Fry the Potatoes: Heat oil in a deep pan. Once hot, fry the potato wedges in batches until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Make the Chili Sauce: In the same pan (with a little leftover oil), fry onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic until softened.
Add Spices and Sauces: Add red chili ,cumin,coriander powder and cook for a minute, Stir in tomato ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, honey.cook for 2-3 minutes.
Thicken the Sauce: mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water to make a slurry.
Assemble and Serve: Add the fried potato wedges to the thickened chili sauce.Garnish with chopped spring onions (optional) and serve hot.
